Dr. David Maberley, MD, MSc (Epid), FRCSC
Medical & Surgical Retina
Dr. Maberley completed his medical degree at UBC and ophthalmology residency at the University of Toronto, followed by a fellowship in retina at Queen’s University and a second fellowship in advanced surgical techniques and medical retina at Columbia University and the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, New York. He also holds a Master of Science in Community Health and Epidemiology from Queen’s University.
His research focuses on macular and retinal vascular disease, with an emphasis on tele-ophthalmology, pharmacoepidemiology, and retinal surgery.
A Full Professor at the University of Ottawa and Clinician Investigator at OHRI, Dr. Maberley serves as Chair and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology. He is founder of the Canadian Retina Society and previously was Chair at the UBC Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.
