Dr. Ioannis Dimopoulos, MD, MSc, FRCSC
Medical Retina, Ophthalmic Genetics & Cataract Surgery
Dr. Dimopoulos earned his MD at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, MSc from the University of Alberta, and completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Ottawa. He subsequently trained as a Clinical Fellow in Ophthalmic Genetics and Medical Retina at the National Eye Institute (NIH), Bethesda, MD.
His research explores inherited retinal disorders, gene-based diagnostics, and clinical innovations in retinal imaging and medical retina management.
An Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa and Clinician Investigator at OHRI, Dr. Dimopoulos serves as the Department of Ophthalmology Quality Improvement Lead and Co-Lead of the Electroretinogram (ERG) Program. He is also an active member of the Canadian Ophthalmological
Society and contributes to clinical and educational excellence in retinal disease.
