Dr. Ralph Buhrmann, MDCM, MPH, PhD, FRCSC
Glaucoma, Cataract, & Anterior Segment Surgeon
Dr. Buhrmann completed his medical and ophthalmology training at McGill University, followed by a Master of Public Health, PhD in Clinical Epidemiology, and Glaucoma Fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University.
His work focuses on clinical epidemiology of glaucoma, global blindness prevention, and microsurgical innovations in cataract and glaucoma surgery.
An Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa and Clinician Investigator at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI), Dr. Buhrmann is Lead of the Ophthalmic Surgical Simulation Centre and a founding leader in ophthalmic microsurgical training. He is a past president of the Canadian Society for International and Public Health Ophthalmology and continues to advance national vision health strategies.
